I’m Matt Candelario, a Southern California voice actor working across video games, animation, commercials, audiobooks, and audio storytelling.
Whatever I’m recording, the goal is the same: understand the person behind the words and make them sound like they actually mean them.
I’ve always liked becoming somebody else.
Long before I was behind a microphone, I was acting. Theatre, local performances, and more D&D sessions than I could reasonably count taught me how much I loved finding the person inside a character.
Voice acting gave me a way to take that same obsession with character and storytelling into an entirely new medium. Since then, I’ve had the chance to voice player protagonists, larger-than-life characters, commercial reads, and hours of audiobook narration.
I’ve also stepped to the other side of the booth as a director. That experience has made me a better actor: I know how valuable it is when a performer can take direction, communicate clearly, make an adjustment, and keep the process moving.
At the end of the day, I like making things with people. Give me the character, the audience, and what you need them to feel, then let’s figure out how to get there.
